Rescue Team Minimum Qualifications

As identified in that MOU between the District and Local 3546, new members must have completed the four core classes below by April 1st, 2025, to join the team:

• Rescue Systems 1

• Trench Rescue

• Confined Space Rescue Technician

• Rapid Intervention Team

In addition to completing those four core classes you will now also be required to have the following courses which will be taken on DB within 2 years of appointment to the team:

• Rope Rescue Technician

• Trench Rescue

• Confined Space Rescue Technician

• Structure Collapse Specialist 1

• Structure Collapse Specialist 2

• Heavy Equipment Rigging Specialist

• Plus, any two (2) of the following courses:

  • Animal Rescue

  • Heavy Vehicle Rescue

  • Machinery Rescue

  • Tower Rescue

  • Water Rescue

New members who do not have the original four core classes as identified in the old LOU by April 1st, 2025, will be required to complete the following classes as listed below (Please note: these are to be taken on your own time, not on DB):

• Rope Rescue Technician

• Trench Rescue

• Confined Space Rescue Technician

• Structure Collapse Specialist 1

In addition to completing those four core classes you will now also be required to have the following courses which will be taken on DB:

• Structure Collapse Specialist 2

• Heavy Equipment Rigging Specialist

• Plus, any two (2) of the following courses which will be taken on DB:

  • Animal Rescue

  • Heavy Vehicle Rescue

  • Machinery Rescue

  • Tower Rescue

  • Water Rescue
